Ahane took on Na Piarsaigh on Sunday afternoon in Old Christians GAA club in the fifth round of the county championship. Conditions to begin with weren't great but improved as the game went on.

Ahane started the game well with a goal coming from Áine Reynolds in the third minute. Niamh Mulcahy added to the Ahane tally with a point in the sixth minute. Ten minutes gone in the second half and Ahane got their second goal of the game off the stick of Margaret Meskell. Áine Reynolds added two more points to the Ahane score sheet and with fifteen minutes gone in the first half it stood as Ahane 2-03 Na Piarsaigh 0-00. There was some fierce battles in the middle of the field and both teams got stuck in. Na Piarsaigh's first score came of the stick of their centre forward with a beauty of a point in the seventh minute. Shauna D'Arcy got her first point of the game in the seventh minute as a response to Na Piarsaigh's first score. Na Piarsaigh got there second point of the game from their wing back in the twenty first minute. There was a strong wind throughout the game and at times the teams struggled to judge it. One of the highlights of the game was the fantastic sideline ball taken by Niamh, which traveled across the field and landed straight into Kate Herbert's hand who then played a great ball into the forwards. Áine and Shauna added a point each to the Ahane tally and the teams went in at half time as Ahane 2-06 Na Piarsaigh 0-02.

Na Piarsaigh were the first out of the blocks in the second half as their number nine put the ball over the black spot to start their second half scoring. Niamh put two frees over the bar and Áine added another point to her tally of the day. Ahane's next two scores came from the stick of Áine once again and brought her presonal tally of the day to 1-07. Niamh got another point from play but Na Piarsaigh never panicked or gave up and they came back down the field and scored a goal. Cliodhna Twomey got herself on the score sheet in the twenty sixth minute with a point. Judith and Shauna got a point each before the full time whistle blew. The game finished on a scoreline of Ahane 2-17 Na Piarsaigh 1-05.
